For over
60 years, the Christians of the Saugus
area have been regularly preaching the gospel to anyone
who will listen. The gospel that we preach is that Christ
died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was
buried and that he rose again on the third day according
to the scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:3,4). We believe
that there must be a personal experience of discovering
our guiltiness before God as sinners and accepting Christ
as personal Savior and Lord.
Our condition before a righteous and holy God is clearly
explained in the Scriptures. "All have sinned and come
short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). The consequences
for our sinfulness is also clearly set forth, in that The
wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Christ's death
on the cross of calvary, almost 2000 years ago settled the
sin problem with God. His finished work is sufficient to
satisfy God that sin has been paid for. "For when we
were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for
the ungodly" ( Romans 5:6 ).
We believe, that as the scriptures teach, a person must
have a personal experience of accepting Christ as their
own personal Savior. Putting their trust in his finished
work on Calvary is the only way of obtaining eternal life.
Other methods that are preached by other religions are void
and unacceptable to God. the scriptures tell us that "All
our righteousness are as filthy rags." Good living,
good deeds, and religious attendance are all exposed by
God by saying, "Not of works, lest any man should boast."
The path to salvation is simple and clear. All the work
is done and all that one must do is place their faith in
the work that Christ completed on Calvary.
